An October Getaway to Myrtle Beach

After no vacation for over two years, in October we finally took a mini break! We had never booked a stay at the beach during fall, so we were nervous about the weather, but it was great – no rain!

Our trip was a 3-day weekend getaway at Captain’s Quarters Resort in Myrtle Beach. We stayed there a few years ago on a media trip for our blog. It’s one of our most favorite resorts from Vacation Myrtle Beach, so when we wanted to book a stay on our own, this was high on our list. Landmark Resort is another good one too that we have enjoyed.

You can read my blog post review of Captain’s Quarters Resort that has all the information you need if you are planning to visit.

Lazy Beach Days

I’m not going to lie; I probably spent more time relaxing with a drink and sunbathing on the balcony or by the pool while Meshach and Tristan played on the beach. And they couldn’t skip out on soaking in the hot tub or floating in the indoor lazy river either.

Because in case you don’t know: If you didn’t float in a lazy river, did you even visit a Vacation Myrtle Beach resort? Many of their resorts have fun, lazy rivers. You can count on that!

We also played a game of bowling at the resort’s entertainment center called, Level 6. And ate at Loco Gecko which is right across the street from Captain’s Quarters.

We booked an Oceanfront Suite, and the view was amazing! We love this room type because the beds are right in front of the balcony so we can see the ocean and beach from our beds.

I did go on a couple of beach walks with them, but I was being a lazy “beach bum” on this trip!

Savannah’s Playground

This is the coolest and cutest playground we have ever seen! Tristan could have spent all day playing there.

According to their website, Savannah’s Playground is an enabling playground featuring ADA-approved playground equipment and structures. It’s designed to provide children of all abilities the opportunity for social interaction.

Such an amazing concept! We need more playgrounds like this everywhere.

Warbird Park

A memorial park dedicated to the men and women of the United States Air Force. Here you will see several retired fighter crafts such as the A10 Thunderbolt, the F-100 Sabre and A-7 Corsair. There is also a 9/11 Memorial showcasing a beam from the World Trade Center’s North Tower.

We went to this park twice on this Myrtle Beach trip. We came across Warbird Park on our way to pick up dinner at P.F. Chang’s in The Market Common district.

This is another place Tristan really enjoyed spending time at on our trip. It is a very peaceful place.

The Market Common

This district offers tons of shopping, food (we kept ordering from P.F. Chang’s – so good!), entertainment, and plenty of space for recreation and relaxation in nature. It is only a few minutes’ drive from Captain’s Quarters Resort so it’s very convenient to reach.

And if you want to, you could literally live there! They have the cutest townhomes and single-family homes up for sale so you could be just steps away from everything you need.

I love the pastel colors of the homes in The Market Common. They remind me of Charleston’s Rainbow Row or San Francisco’s Painted Ladies.

It was very cool to see more of Myrtle Beach. Out of all the years we’ve visited we never ventured off into other areas. I’m so glad we did!
