It’s that wonderful time of the year – cold and flu season. I had an awful spell of pneumonia in December and while antibiotics finally helped, I did drink a lot of apple cider vinegar.

Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar
I used to laugh when my sister and friends suggested natural remedies every time I got sick in the past (ironically before a big trip!) until one day I decided to try it out. The trick is to buy unfiltered apple cider vinegar – the one with the cloudy stuff in it called the “mother”. The mother contains all of the proteins and good bacteria that will help your body fight off some ailments.
When You’re Sick
There are many ways to use unfiltered apple cider vinegar including when you’re sick. As soon as you start to feel the start of cold symptoms, you can either mix 1 tbsp of raw (unfiltered) apple cider vinegar in an 8oz glass of water or put it in warm tea with honey (another great natural remedy). Drink this at least 2 or 3 times the first couple of days you’re sick and then you can reduce it to once a day if you’d like.
Honestly, I used to just take a shot of it straight and chase it down with water until I read somewhere that it’s not good for your esophagus lining so now I make sure to drink it in water or tea.
When You’re Not So Regular
I would’ve just said “when your digestive tract is imbalanced” but sometimes it may not be a simple constipation issue, it could be something else – check with your doctor if it’s severe. Mix 1 tbsp of raw ACV in a glass of water preferably at bedtime and by morning you may be all cleared up! But seriously, I don’t recommend drinking it in the morning on an empty stomach and even so – I find ACV in the morning quite nauseating and it messes me up the rest of the day.
For Your Hair
This is something you may need to adjust depending on your hair type. My hair is thick and tangled and I find that by mixing 4 oz of raw ACV in a squirt bottle with 4 oz of warm water is the right formula for me. Not only does it detangle easily, but it acts as a cleanser and conditioner all in one.
I was skeptical about this at first until Meshach saw some YouTube videos of people using it instead of harsh shampoos and conditioners and it really does work! It makes my hair surprisingly soft considering it’s apple cider vinegar.
Apparently, raw apple cider vinegar taken as a daily regimen can help you lose weight, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, treat acid reflux and much more.
I am NOT a doctor or have a degree in health and medicine. Always check with your doctor first before taking something questionable.
Have you heard of using raw apple cider vinegar? What do you use it for?
