We were hosted by The Irish House Party, as always opinions are our own.
You can’t visit Dublin (or anywhere in Ireland) without making the effort to see a live show of Irish music and dance performances. When we visit a country, we enjoy finding activities that promote its local culture and the Irish House Party does it well!
After a day of sightseeing in Dublin, we attended the Irish House Party and we had such a great time!
What is The Irish House Party?
First off, I want to say that it really does take place in a house! A 18th century townhouse, The Lansdowne Hotel.
The musicians and dancers are not your average performers. They have appeared on TV shows and toured around the world, they’re the real deal!
It’s a night of a tasty 3 course dinner (appetizer, main course and dessert) with tea or coffee and a show that takes place downstairs after dinner.
Dinner
For our starters, we had soda bread and ordered the mixed leaf salad with crispy bacon (so good!) with their beef stew as our main course. I think Tristan got chicken tenders and fries.
We ate the best Beef & Guinness Stew at their dinner out of all the stews we’ve eaten on our trip! Seriously! You could taste the Guinness in the stew but it wasn’t overpowering, it complimented the beef.
I’m not really a beer drinker, I love wine. While, I prefer my Guinness cooked in a stew instead of drinking it, Meshach ordered a Guinness at almost every dinner we had in Ireland. He seemed to like it!
And can we talk about how decadent and chocolatey (if that’s even a word) our dessert was? A chocolate brownie served with Irish liquer ice cream was on the dessert menu for the night.
We topped it off with a hot cup of tea and coffee, and we were ready for the show. Down the stairs we went!
The Show
The show isn’t just music and dance performances, there is also storytelling incorporated too. We love that the musicians gave the audience a back story behind the instruments and songs, so it was educational but in an entertaining way.
One of my favorite parts of the show was the Irish dance performance. You can see some of it make an appearance in our Dublin video here.
We’d like to thank the talented and kind people at The Irish House Party for their warm welcome and hospitality. It was a wonderful night for us in Dublin!
