We were hosted by Jaybird’s Inn, as always opinions are our own.
On our recent visit to Saint Augustine, Florida we stayed at Jaybird’s Inn. Their slogan says, “historic outside, contemporary inside” and we couldn’t agree more!
The Rooms
The inn has the architecture of Saint Augustine’s old city charm and their interiors are filled with beautiful, contemporary decor.
We loved their soft beds and sheets. They use pillow-top mattresses which we also use on our bed at home, so that was a treat!
The rooms also come with a table and two chairs, a 42” LCD TV with 80 channels, a pretty cool LED lighting system that we now want to install in our home, microwave, refrigerator, bathroom with a shower (no tub), and my favorite – a clock that plays music from your phone or tablet when you touch your device on it!
I wish I could remember what it’s called, but I hadn’t seen anything like it in other hotels we’ve stayed in.
Amenities
We were super excited that Jaybird’s Inn provides their hotel guests with free breakfast and free wifi. If you haven’t heard, breakfast and wifi are big on our decision-making for hotel bookings.
They have a full service restaurant next door which you can receive a discount as a hotel guest, or you can eat for free at their breakfast served in the lobby.
The lobby breakfast is pretty simple, especially if you’re in a hurry to go sightseeing. You can choose from making your own waffle or pancakes, grab a muffin or pastry (Tristan loved their cheese danish!), toast, oatmeal, cereal or fruit.
Also, Starbucks coffee and tea are available 24/7 in the lobby and you could even make yourself a hot cup in the comforts of your room with the in-room coffee maker.
Great Location
It’s a perfect location near the beach (7 minutes drive to Vilano Beach), popular attractions, not to forget to mention easy access to the Ripley’s Red Train and Old Town Trolley tour stations.
You could literally walk to the Red Train station, it’s right behind the hotel. We opted for the trolley as suggested by Jaybird’s friendly front desk staff!
If you’re contemplating buying a trolley tour pass, we highly recommend doing it! You can choose to ride the entire line through and take a guided ride learning about the city or hop off and back on when you’re ready to move on to the next attraction.
It’s also another great way to save money by taking the trolley because parking in the historic city center is expensive. We were told by locals that parking costs $15 per car at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility next to the Visitors Center.
Traffic can also get congested and you’ll pay just as much for metered parking. With a Red Train trolley pass, you can buy a 1 Day or consecutive 3 Day or 5 Day pass and spend less money and time on parking downtown.
If you choose Old Town Trolley they have the same route as Red Train but they have a free Beach Shuttle which can take you to the Alligator Farm, the Lighthouse Museum, and the beach on Anastasia Island.
Friendly and Affordable
Considering how easily accessible attractions and the beaches are near Jaybird’s Inn, you would think the cost of rooms would be expensive but they’re surprisingly not!
They are very affordable and a stay at Jaybird’s Inn also offers a lot of value. The staff are helpful and so welcoming, that we now understand why there were repeat guests after talking to some of them.
Saint Augustine is also a wonderful place, especially when traveling with family. You should add it to your bucket list!
Nice experience! I just found your blog but I can say you have a very nice and friendly way of writing. Good luck with everything
Thank you so much! It means a lot to us to hear that 🙂
