Hello everyone from this post- 2020 pandemic lockdown!
I feel like we’re slowly coming out from hibernation on our blog. We all know what a year 2020 was and although 2021 is looking a lot more optimistic, we’re not quite out of the woods yet as far as the entire world, in general.
Hopefully this means a great thaw is on its way for our blog. I’d really like to go back to frequently posting again. I just didn’t have the motivation in me over the last year to sit down and write a bunch of travel guides, tips, etc. considering majority of the world couldn’t’ travel (and some people still can’t or don’t feel comfortable) to freely travel like they want.
I’m also at an awkward fork in the road with our blog and social media posts where I don’t know if the content I create from our pre-pandemic trips need a disclosure that it took place pre-Covid19 or just write it like normal.
A Summer With No Plans
We have absolutely no summer travel plans and to be honest I’m feeling really bummed about it. But while we can’t explore the other side of the world this year, we have literally spent more time in our own backyard (figuratively and literally speaking) than we have in all of the years we’ve lived in our town.
We’re finding peace in the beauty of local parks and lakes. Playing in our garden and playground set for hours in the evenings after the hot summer temps cool down for the day.
Enjoying smaller but fun experiences like strawberry picking at local farms for example. We’ve even caught the eye of one of North Carolina’s county tourism boards whom we will be working more closely with in the near future, bringing us more opportunities for our blog. And more great news! Today we found out that one of our photos will be featured in an upcoming coffee table book later this year! More details about that once it gets close to the release date.
I’m also finding out that I’m pretty good at bartending at home, grilling food, making homemade lemonade and sweet tea – a staple beverage for the southern heat! Check out my cocktail recipe videos on our Insta Reels!
A Traveler at Heart
I don’t think I would’ve noticed or considered any of these things had it not been for staying home almost a year and a half now. It’s a good lesson learned to slow down once in a while to enjoy the little things in life. However, I can’t wait to be able to fully travel again!
Travel has and will always be a part of me no matter what. I feel so lost without it right now – especially in the summer where we typically do all of our traveling for the year with Tristan on school break.
I know it isn’t a necessity and it is considered a privilege for anyone to do it, but I still really miss the feeling of seeing a new place and creating new experiences outside of the repetitive daily routines.
I hope you have a wonderful summer and keep your eye on our blog as I am trying my very best to finally add more content from our travels prior to lockdown in 2020.
(I think it’s safe to start saying it again now.) Happy travels!
