CAT Bulldozer Unboxing
Tristan spotted this cool Cat 9″ Big Builder Caterpillar Bulldozer at Walmart. It is freewheeling and has a lever that makes realistic bulldozer sounds, lights, sound effects, music and makes a great toy for preschool ages. A feature that Tristan really loves is its forward and reverse motion. Also its ability to lift loaded objects (like his blocks!)
It requires 2 AA batteries which are included in the box but I recommend having another set on hand as we had to replace the batteries after its frequent use.

Father’s Day Weekend + LEGO Juniors Lightning McQueen Speed Launcher
This past weekend was Father’s Day. We usually do low key things at home to celebrate. This weekend Tristan and Meshach grilled almost all of our meals, watched Netflix and played with LEGO Juniors Lightning McQueen Speed Launcher set from Disney Pixar Cars 3.
Tristan was so excited when we surprised him with the 47 piece set sent to us by the friendly team at LEGO.
It’s suggested age range for the set is 4 – 7 years and although Tristan is inching closer to 4, he did not seem to have any trouble putting it together. He also has experience with “big kid” LEGOs because he plays it with his older cousin.
What’s Inside
– A simple instruction guide
– Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar Cars 3
– Easy to Build Speed Launcher with a leaderboard, launch function and a starting ramp
Lightning McQueen
Tristan is a big fan of Disney Pixar Cars. He must’ve watched it on Netflix hundreds of times. It never seems to get old for him.
In this LEGO Juniors set, Lightning McQueen is ready to race from the starting launcher!
All you need to do is place Lightning McQueen on the launcher and hit the red button. Off he’ll go! It’s very simple to do, although Tristan did ask for help a couple of times before getting the hang of it.
If you want to know the specs according to the LEGO website: Lightning McQueen measures over 1” (3cm) high, 2” (7cm) long and 1” (3cm) wide. The Speed Launcher measures over 2” (6cm) high, 4” (11cm) wide and 2” (6cm) deep.
Just the right size for tiny hands like Tristan’s to launch Lightning McQueen into the race.
Bonding Time
The boys had a great time building the Speed Launcher and Tristan has been playing with it all weekend (and helping daddy grill!)
I remember playing with LEGOs when I was a child. It’s a time honored tradition in almost every childhood and we are so glad to pass it along to Tristan.
Thank you to the team at LEGO for sending us the LEGO Juniors Lightning McQueen Speed Launcher for review. As always, opinions are our own.

Under The Sea at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach
A trip to Myrtle Beach is not complete without a visit to one of Ripley’s main attractions: Ripley’s Aquarium.
SLIME
Tristan is at an age where he wants to explore and learn about everything around him. He was so excited to visit Ripley’s Aquarium – especially because of their shark tanks!
There are two levels in the aquarium. The upper level has one of Tristan’s favorite exhibits called SLIME.
SLIME features, you guessed it – slimy sea creatures! The most fascinating one to me is the Green Moray eel.
They look like some kind of sea monster in a sci-fi movie!
After some sting ray, slime and other cool creature features (like mermaids!) we made our way under the sea.
Well, the Dangerous Reef exhibit!
Dangerous Reef
Gliding along on a 340-foot glide path in an acrylic tunnel, we came face to face with sea life big and small – including sharks!
You are literally surrounded by fish in this tunnel. Sharks would drift above our heads while schools of fish zipped passed us on each side.
We loved reaching out when they swam over us as if we could almost touch them! It’s a really cool experience.
Family Fun
Did you get a chance to watch the full video of our visit? No problem! You can check it out on our YouTube channel or watch it right here on this blog post.
If you visit Myrtle Beach I recommend taking a look around Ripley’s Aquarium. You should definitely visit if you have kids or a lover of the sea.

Thank you so much to Ripley’s Aquarium for welcoming us in Myrtle Beach!
